About

I am an abstract landscape painter. Decades ago, a trip to Central Australia first moved me to attempt to capture some essence of the landscape and its impact on how I felt. However, life in another career got in the way of pursuing this until 2020. I live and work in a beautiful rural setting in Central Victoria, on Dja Dja wurrung land.

Spending months at a time camping in the deserts, mountains, coast and bush across Australia I am drawn to the duality of fragility and strength. Complexity and simplicity. I note that my art is evolving into deeper abstraction, reduction of the landscape to its elemental shapes and colours. I find abstraction communicates the concepts and feelings I associate with the strength of the experience.

After spending significant time immersed in a landscape. I create my paintings in studio, working primarily with oil paint on wood panel.
